Car Insurance Dispute
When you are involved in a car accident, things aren’t always the way you wanted them to be. In some occasions, you will find yourself getting involved in a dispute – usually about who is causing the accident – with the opposing driver and other parties involved. There are several tips you can use to make sure you stay protected even when you are in the middle of a dispute.
First of all, always make sure your side of the story is valid and properly supported. You need to take pictures, talk to people, and gather contact information of witnesses as quickly after the accident as possible. If possible, you should also take pictures of the original scene of the accident before anything is moved.
There will be other insurance companies contacting you depending on the number of parties involved. Make sure you have every supporting information ready and answer all questions accordingly. You might also want to document the conversation through recordings or small notes; be sure to ask for the name of the person you are speaking with and his or her position in the company.
Consult your insurance agent while you file your claim as well. If you did everything properly and have the police officer handling the accident provide statements for your insurance company, you will be in better situation at this point. Since the police officer’s testimonials are worth so much more than yours – or the opposing parties’ – then you will certainly receive the compensation you need without hassle.
